PROGRAM PRESENTED BY:
Abstract:
Long-time proponents of the value that collaborative design and construction brings the industry, the AIA-MBA Joint Committee is leading an effort to provide our region with education and resources to enable higher levels of integration in project delivery. Founded on the simple principle that project outcomes are more certain when a trusting team works together toward jointly shared project goals, collaborative project delivery is beginning to emerge as a project delivery system that provides incredible value to the owner.
Join us as we discuss the fundamental principles of collaboration required to structure an effective, trusting team-oriented approach and how it may reduce cost and save time while increasing project quality by aligning the objectives of the entire team. This integrated team approach also provides owners with much better predictability in outcome throughout the projects entire life-cycle; from design through construction and into the facilities operations phase.
Objectives:
- To begin an on-going dialog with the owner community that may promote the value of more integrated and collaborative project delivery systems and provide resources for the industry to move in this direction
- Clearly communicate the reasons why this is important for the industry
- Focus on the fundamental principal that a team-first approach brings much higher levels of certainty in outcome, what it takes to establish a well-functioning team (trust) and what it takes to establish trust – aligning motives/shared intent
- Develop an understanding that there are many principals of integration that may be applied incrementally at many levels and under various project delivery forms
